Here is a list of the 2017 USPS holiday closure dates. Post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery on these dates.
An important detail to note about postal holidays in 2017 is that seven of the ten days that the U.S. Post Office is closed are on Mondays. If you don’t get your campaign mailed by the preceding Friday, you’ll have to wait at least three days to get it in the mail.
Mark these on your calendar and plan ahead with your direct mail.
Here are the days that the USPS will be closed in 2017:
- Monday, January 2 New Year’s Day
- Monday, January 16 Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
- Monday, February 20 President’s Day/Washington’s Birthday
- Monday, May 29 Memorial Day
- Tuesday, July 4 Independence Day
- Monday, September 4 Labor Day
- Monday, October 9 Columbus Day
- Friday, November 11 Veterans Day
- Thursday, November 23 Thanksgiving Day
- Monday, December 25 Christmas Day
Please note that, as New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday (January 1), the USPS is closed on Monday, January 2. Additionally Veterans Day falls on a Saturday, so the USPS will be closed the preceding Friday, November 10.
