The WordTech Group Named to the Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies
Inc. magazine ranked The WordTech Group on it’s 39th annual Inc. 5000, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment – its independent small and midsized businesses. Companies such as Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, Microsoft, Patagonia, and many other well-known names gained their first national exposure as honorees of the Inc. 5000.
“Every year, I look forward to reading the Inc. 500 list. For the past 10 years, I noticed regional companies I do business with and I’ve always wanted our company to be recognized the same,” said company President Ben Ohanesian. “Now we can say that we are! What makes me most happy about this honor was sharing it with our team the morning after we found out. In light of the global pandemic, it meant even more. Everyone was thrilled with the news. You can see the extreme pride our team takes in what they do. Our employees have been with us an average of 10 years. In fact, three employees have devoted over 25 years to our organization and it means so much to celebrate them in this way.”
The WordTech Group began in Folkestone, Kent, England in 1977. At the time the founders, Barbara and Charlie Ohanesian, specialized in sending faxes at three pages per minute and had “floppy disc computer systems” which was well ahead of its time. The company moved to its 20,000 square foot plant in Pottstown, Pa. in the 1980s and added direct mail services. In 2011, second-generation owners Ben and Greg Ohanesian took over the company. They are known as the direct mail industry’s version of the Property Brothers. Ben helps customers think holistically about their projects and thinks strategically about how to find savings and increased results. Greg is the powerhouse behind the production: scheduling jobs, making sure they run perfectly, and getting them to mailboxes on time.
Not only have the companies on the 2020 Inc. 5000 been very competitive within their markets, but the list as a whole shows staggering growth compared with prior lists as well. The 2020 Inc. 5000 achieved an incredible three-year average growth of over 500 percent and a median rate of 165 percent. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue was $209 billion in 2019, accounting for over 1 million jobs over the past three years.
“The companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 come from nearly every realm of business. From health and software to media and hospitality, the 2020 list proves that no matter the sector, incredible growth is based on the foundations of tenacity and opportunism.”
